This is a picture of the Maroon Bells, two 14,000 foot peaks in the Elk Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Kevin Brown, my climbing partner captured this photograph of the Bells and their reflection on Maroon Lake during a recent reconnoitering trip in preparation for he and I to climb to their summits.
As I look at this amazing photograph, I am captured by the concept of reflection. In our age of pseudo-busy divisiveness and criticism, take time today to reflect on the beauty in other human beings; a spouse, a child, a friend, a coworker or even a stranger. Become aware of the amazing beauty in others. But don’t stop with just awareness of this beauty. Tell them – it will only take a few seconds of your time, but they will likely remember it for a lifetime. As in the photograph above, this reflection will enrich you as well.
In my counseling practice, I help people develop a lifestyle of “reflection”. They report beautiful results in their lives. You can too.
